The Counseling Experience

Your experience at Element will be one of feeling heard, understood, and deeply cared for.  The counseling process involves addressing your emotions in the here-and-now and learning how to recognize and accept the feeling for just as it is: a feeling.  Through gentle education on human emotions and thoughts, you will become more comfortable with the uncomfortable.

Your first appointment will be about telling your story and exploring how you relate to your moment by moment experiences of beliefs, thoughts, feelings, memories, and physical sensations.  We, as a team, will work on finding tools and learning about how to relate to these experiences in a new, more helpful way.

As we progress in the therapeutic process, you will be encouraged to use the tools and experiment with them in every day life.  In our subsequent sessions, we will use real-life examples that you bring to the session in order to work through barriers, difficulties, or explain the concepts further.

Therapy is not an over-night fix.  It is a sacred, healing journey of each individual human finding the ability within themselves to respond to the chaos of life in a healthy way, and to live more fully in the present moment.
